This project focuses on the exploration and the development of design principles of how robotics technologies can be exploited so that they meet user requirements at home, improving both the quality of life and the social acceptance of robotics. One of the questions that we will investigate is to what extent the penetration of robotics in daily life can be promoted by designing solutions around the existing interactions between the users and their environment. This natural multi-modal interaction between users and everyday objects can be enhanced by fusing robotic technologies and methodologies from object and interaction design, from architecture, and from environmental engineering. Robotic technology can be applied to augment existing everyday objects, such as glasses, chairs, refrigerators, cameras. We call objects with integrated robotic technologies "robjects".
